Do I need to have a hair and makeup trial?

Ultimately, it’s totally up to you! We understand that not everyone wants a trial, and that’s ok. However, in our professional experience, a hair and makeup trial is like a secret shortcut to success. Having a trial gives us the opportunity to really get to know you, and understand the look you’re trying to achieve. It means we can perfect the overall image, before the big day. Phew! Doesn’t that take the pressure off!

Our makeup artists are always so excited to help you design and create the wedding look of your dreams, so even if you don’t know exactly what you’re after, the trial is the perfect opportunity to discuss and explore how we can help you look and feel your best on your special day.

We suggest booking a hair and makeup trial in at least 6 weeks before your wedding day.

We host our bridal trials on Mondays and Tuesdays, at the Luana Bickel Creative Studio HQ in Sydney.

How much time do I need to allow for Hair & Makeup on my wedding day?

Our incredible team knows how important it is to keep things running smoothly on your big day. We ask that you allow up to 45 minutes per person for hair and an additional 45 minutes for makeup, and a little longer for the bride.

For bridal parties of 5 or more, we will bring along 2 artists. If you will have an even larger group, and will be including special people like mothers or grandmothers, please let us know in advance so we can bring along an extra artist on the day. We want to make sure your wedding experience is as stress free as possible, and that means planning ahead is essential!

Team Brushy will also provide you with a schedule for the day, so you’ll know when it’s time for makeup… and when it’s time for champagne!

Will my makeup and hairstyle last all day?

Team Brushy knows the Power of Prep! Before any makeup touches your skin, we will have assessed your unique skin type and prepped it accordingly. We’ll use some seriously good skincare before applying a gorgeous primer to ensure we’re giving your makeup the staying power it needs to last all day. Your foundation will be set with a translucent powder to keep things looking natural, while also making sure everything stays in place!

When it comes to hair, there’s a few factors to consider and we’ll discuss this all with you so you can make the choice that’s right for you. Whatever hairstyle you go for, we’ll prep your hair with products that are designed to support your own unique hair qualities. They’ll be focused on keeping curls curly and updo’s up! If you do decide to go for an updo, you can expect your hair to stay in place all day long. If you’ll be wearing your hair out, it’s likely that your curls will soften naturally throughout the day – however we’ll make sure we give you the best possible chance of keeping things looking fresh all day long! It’s important to know that your hair will be influenced by the weather. If things are very hot, humid or windy, that will impact on your hair.

Once you’ve had Team Brushy work their magic on the big day, we’ll give you a touch up kit to take with you. This will include a little sample of your lipstick as well as blotting paper in case you get a bit shiny – just remember, dab, don’t rub!

We will do everything we can to ensure that you look and feel beautiful all day. Promise.

How do you keep your kit hygienic? 

What an important question! We’re so glad you asked. At Brushy, we prioritise health and hygiene. We follow strict hand washing guidelines and wash and sanitise our hands between clients. Our products are all decanted prior to use on any client, so there is never any risk of double dipping into liquids and creams. All products are sanitised between clients with an Isocol spray to eliminate germs and bacteria and ensure there is no cross contamination. We do not use the same brushes on different clients. Instead, we have a huge array of brushes to allow us to use unique brushes for each client booking. Our brushes are then thoroughly washed and sanitised between appointments. Mascara is applied using disposable wands.

We have a firm commitment to never using expired product and our products are reviewed and decluttered every 6 months, ensuring you are only ever having the very best touch your skin.
