FAQ

Do I need a Hair & Makeup trial?

Short answer is no. Not every bride requires a trial however, we encourage you to book a trial, so we get to know you and understand what your vision is for your special day. It’s not only about looking good on your wedding day, your photos will last a lifetime and we want you to always look back and be happy with what you see. Trial are important specially if you are not used to hearing makeup or have never had your hair and makeup done professionally.

If you are unsure of what style you like, boho chic, classic or Hollywood we are here to help you make a decision that is true to your style. Best time to organise a trial is 1-2 months prior to the wedding day, bookings are subject to availability, we suggest booking far in advance. Trial are held at the client’s home, Brushy does not come with the artist to any trials.

How much time do I need to allow for Hair & Makeup on my wedding day?

On the wedding day for groups of 5 or more there will be two artists on deck. Luana will bring along a qualified artist from her team to assist in getting the bridal party done on time. Each person should allow 30-45min for each. We usually allocate a little more time for the bride in case tears get on the way. Our team will be at the selected venue/location set and ready to roll about 10-15min prior to the booking time, to ensure we will start at the agreed time. Our team will provide you with a schedule for the day so all the ladies know when is time for makeup and when is time for champagne.

In case you have a large bridal party and would also like to include mothers and grandmothers we can definitely assist by bringing an additional artist. Please let us know if that is the case prior to the wedding we do not take last minute bookings as we do not want to jeopardise the schedule for the day and add stress to the bride.

Will my makeup and hairstyle last the whole day?

We will prep your skin and hair with the appropriate products specific to your akin type and hair type. We will use a combination of primer and skin care before foundation and set with translucent powder to give a natural not cakey look. While with the hair we will prep your hair with products that are designed for you specific hair type and will make hold curls or any other style you have decided to go for. If you decided to go for an updo your hair will definitely hold if you are wearing your hair out we will endeavour to do our best to make it last the whole day however, expect curls to look softer throughout the day, weather play a big role in hair longevity so if it is a very humid, wet or windy day unfortunately it is out of our hands. We will indeed provide you with a touch up kit before we leave, that includes a little sample of the lipstick of your choice and blotting paper in case you get a little shiny – just don’t forget to dab not rub on your skin.

How do you keep your kit hygienic?

We keep our hands clean by washing and using hand sanitiser between clients and in any instance we happen to touch our face while applying makeup. The product we select to use in each client are decanted so there is no double dipping into liquids and creams. We sanitise all products between clients with Isocol spray to kill any germs and bacteria that may be present and avoid cross contamination. All makeup brushes are carefully washed and sterilised after use, we do not use the same brushes in different clients, we do carry a large number of brushes to allow us to use clean brushes in each face and also use disposable mascara wands in each client. We do not use expired products and do a thorough kit declutter for expired and old products twice a year. We take hygiene very seriously, the safety of our clients is our number one concern.
